So I figured I'd get the ball rolling. . . Since most people who hang arround these communities are industrial musicians as well as industrial music fans.
It would make some sense to christen the Tech section with some good ole Muzo Tech babbel. . .
I get kicked out of a lot of gear shops cause I spend most of my time messing around with the latest toys, this time around I put my hands on the sucessor to the Korg MS2000 synth that has been the staple of so many works for so many years now. . .
THE KORG RADIUS
So, what is to be said about this one. . . well it's twice the price, no shock there, and its got a really pretty digital display but does that make it sound better?
umm the Jury says NO but that doesn't make it a waist of time. At first glance the sound engine seems to be pretty much the same as the MS, actually almost identical. The onboard effects section was upgraded which was nice, and aparently so was the vocoder but i didnt get around to that part of it.
The main feature that was improved was the filters. no more push button BS! you can sweep from LP to HP and everything in between with one knob and get what you want by easily "earballing" it which I like. I think that was a smart feature that almost made it a worthy sell but, almost isnt good enough when its $1700ca.
when you hold down Keys on your midi controller you cant change Oscilators untill you re trigger. This might irritate some people.
BOTTOM LINE
If I didnt own an MS id consider it. cause it has some updates worth a good hard look at. It is better than the MS2000 no question but not good enough to trade one in.

Thanks for this!
I actually added a section for these kinds of things to the reviews & interviews category of the main page & put this in there with your name.

It's okay. I'm just glad you want to post more.
I have no problem moving things when they fall into the wrong place. I'm a bitch, but not a complete lunatic. Besides, no one is used to the set up of the site yet anyway, not even me. _________________ If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried. |
